A wire brush drill bit to clean it and nothing more as this leaves a good key for paint . Do not use red led or anything similar as dries leaving no key for further paint . My guy has worked fishing boats for years and since i got him to paint my 40 year old garden gate with International (thats the brand) all in one primer, sealer, undercoat and finish it with with International gloss black , only one coat of each , he refuses to use anything else on boats because 6 years later the gate still shows no sign of rust .

The Red Led and Hammerite he always used he now believes INCREASED the need for regular painting .

    helen07,

These are ALLOY windows.....DO NOT USE STEEL WIRE BRUSHES on alloy, you WILL have troubles.

The Rolocs need a simple adaptor to fit the spindle of the 4" grinder, the fellas that sell the Rolocs also have these. If you have troubles, I will photo mine, I made them from hex bar stock, then gave the rep one to have his made from.

Never, never, NEVER use a wire brush of ANY kind to clean corrosion from aluminum! You will embed tiny particles of the wire material in the aluminum, which will inevitably lead to the rapid return of the corrosion due to galvanic action. Use a nylon cup brush, Roloc Surface Conditioning Disc or a Roloc Bristle Disc

    BUT NO WIRE BRUSH!
