How to check if engine running hours are programmed?

    Recently I was looking for a repair tool for my boat and found a tool can directly modify the engine run hours.
    It all seems so easy in the video.
    I am a little concerned. Is there a way to check to see if the engine running hours has ever been modified?

    No, other than service records.
    But if someone is going to alter the hobbs meter then they're
    going to alter the service records too... if they even exist.

    Why do you ask and why are you concerned?
