What is the source of this formula?

What types of watercraft is it claimed to be valid for?

Indeed, thank you. That formula is what my factory provided me, which i have found inaccurate to resolve my personal tolerance of 50% exposed hull (fresh water).

The reality of weight capacity is ever changing with air pressure (volume), water salinity, weight distribution, load configuration...not to mention river character, depth and flow, wave height...no formula exists in reality.

    Thanks again.
