    Hey.

Ive designed a basic hull. It's a catamaran boat.

length 14 ft. beam 2 ft. depth 15" for each hull.

How do iattach a transom to the hull? I'm using a free version of DelftShip.
Also, how do I put together two hulls to form a catamaran? Is this possible on the free version?

    1. Mark the aft edges of your control net and extrude a new surface from there (for example -1 m); probably on a new layer.

    2. Remove all unnecessary interior lines.

    3. Remove all control points except of one.

    4. Set the coordinates of this point to

    - x: the plane of your transom
    - y: centreline = 0
    - z: upper edge of transom.

    5. Done.

FREE!ship and DelftShip mirror all surfaces around the centreline, so you have to model just one half of the hull if you are to design a monohull. For a catamaran mirror your hull surface ("Transform" --> "Mirror")...

...and then select and move everything away from the centreline ("Transform" --> "Move").

    Voilà!

    Olav, thanks a lot!

I've got a doubt. Every time I try to remove the interior lines and control points using the delete key, the section gets deleted. How do you remove them?

No, don't use the delete key or the button with the trash bin!

To remove points without destroying your surface use "Edit" -> "Point" -> "Collapse" or the button indicated with "A" (you seem to have a more recent version of DelftShip, but the buttons essentially look the same), for lines "Edit" -> "Edge" -> "Collapse" or button "B".

    Here's the finished design.

    catnew.jpg

Now I need to build a platform between the hull to join them. I think I will use the 'add box' tool to do that.

    Will post the results! :)
