That was the excuse offered for starting up a state lottery in California, too: money for education. And the law specifically stated that the lottery money would be supplemental, rather than replacing state funding.

Guess what? It didn't work out that way. Mysteriously, the schools wind up with about the same total amount they would've gotten without the lottery...

I disapprove of the government getting into the gambling business, regardless of the reasons. To begin with, it's basically regressive taxation: the less money people make, the more likely they are to spend their money on lotteries.

I also think it's a bad idea for the government to promote any sort of gambling, period. It isn't behavior that should be officially encouraged, any more than smokiing or drinking is.

I favor taxing people for not working and less taxes on people for working.
Double the tax on alcohol ;)

Think globally and act locally. Don't vote in a dogcatcher you wouldn't want to see running the country. It doesn't matter which country. I hope we don't replace one malignant narcissist with another.

Let them campaign as long as they want to on their own dime. No taxpayer subsidy for campaigners allowed.

To get an officers license don't you have to be of sound mind? Voting for Obama again could place that in doubt!

The most dangerous day to day situation for a cop is answering a call on a domestic disturbance. If someone from outside were to invade our home, the US, as much as we argue with each other we still got each other's back. We're like 2 brothers arguing over who gets the top bunk, but the neighborhood bully better watch his @$$.

Bring back child labor and say "If you aren't in school making good grades, you have to go to work."

And as soon as it passed the government diverted the money already going to education to other purposes so it was all a bait and switch scam.
