I'm afraid that's true. So, what are we to expect in 15 to 20 years? The TET on Us soil?

My guess is that they'll wind up fighting each other instead. China isn't really a homogenous country or society; it's a bunch of disparate parts rather crudely cobbled together.

edit: Among other things, they have a huge Muslim population.

So much of chinese history has been multiple war lords fighting over spoils. Indeed may happen again. Very astute Troy. Even more astute if it actually happens that way.

Not at all impossible. A confederate dollar bill backed by a defunct government is worth more than an american dollar bill. So, save your confederate money. The south WILL rise again. YEEHAW!

Give it a rest, Frosty. Most of us in the US speak some form of English that is intelliible anywhere else in the country -- as opposed to China, where speakers of Mandarin, Wu, Cantonese and Min can't even understand one another.

The point of mentioning the Muslims in China is that they are a large, disgruntled minority. Many of them would like to break away to form a Muslim-based country or countries. I can't think of anywhere in the US where a significant part of the population wants to break away from the US and create a Christian theocrasy....

The US military is a pretty homogeneous bunch if you ask me, Might be the occasional issue with race or orientation but I don't see it being any big problem anytime soon. China on the other hand has more men in its army than we have people. Even if they did have a citizen revolt they could still field a whopping huge force. I kinda see it as being a similar situation as in Vietnam where the communist forces won using bicycles and pop guns against multibillion dollar assets. Its the same old song and dance. We might be able to ring up a 200:1 kill ratio but they've got a 400:1 advantage. Kinda makes you wonder.

Mostly what I wonder is why people are worried about the Chinese attacking the US -- especially since we're probably their biggest customers, and considering they hold billions of dollars of American paper that would instantly become worthless.

    Boston,
What is this "400:1 advantage" China over US. Their population is only a bit more than 4:1 Us. 4.28 to 1.
