My resin was a bit lumpy so I thinned it with acetone to approx 30%. I used it and while its gone off its very sticky on the surface.

24 hours now and if you pick it up you cant put it down.

    What can I do.

Ive just tried wet sanding with plenty of washing up liquid but not very successful.

I suppose a coat of Eurothene would do it ?

Suggestion !!the wax used to add to resin in reality is just candle wax but it is heated till it turns liquid in Styrene , you wont have styrene but you could get a little resin in a tin and shave a candle and warm till the wax melts and mixes with the resin then catalyse and paint over the top of your sticky and that should be all there is to that story .
But id still buy a big bottle of something and get that happy feeling all over !!. :)

S"ok Ive left it out in the rain and sun.

That usually fixes that Fibre glass stuff.

On continuing work Ive added cobalt and its a better mix now ---ha you didnt know that did you.

Yup mixing cobalt has really made a difference == .

Making mistakes really learns you up some.

The cobalt mix has gone off real good now.

Now that was a lesson learned. Thank you BF experts.

The problem is when resin get old it looses its kick and the chemicals want to separate out and so on . so adding some cobalt has given it a new lease on life again . same happens with gelcoat as well.
The sticky is judt the oxygen reacting and stopping the surface so when you pit another coat over the top the sticky and the new intermix and one sends the other off hard !!,Adding wax it floats on the surface and seals the air away from the resin so it will go hard all the way to the top.

    Boat design Forum Experts.

Wow this cobalt is fantastic stuff , this resin is like new now,--like new bought stuff up to specifications and fully insurable.

Im having fun now mixing ( slopping ) in a bit o this and that and getting perfect go off times of about 30 minutes with just a brush full in the cup left as waste.

This laminating job is easy. I might experiment a 25 minute flash off next.

Only got a liter pop bottle of the stuff left and with a drop of acetone in a cut off bottle im still using the same brush.

I think Ille build a boat. This is simple .

    What did you expect Frosty.

I'd give you some good advice but you'd just tell me I was an idiot.

You did it, you live with it.

I've never put anyone one on the "ignore" list but I think it's finally time.

    Unbelievable.

Plus it's not even specified in the question what resin is being used.
State specifics in the question and better answers are possible.

Specifics ---well ok but this is way out of my field. Its a bottle of fibre glass resin I buy from the hardware shop its clear kinda green colour. and it had lumps in so I thinned it.

It went sticky so I tried all sorts of stuff and I bunged in a bit of cobalt that I had.

Any way sorry to be such a pest. I did it I will have to live with it ---cheers.
