You might like to look at my site and the Latest News page where I have photos of my Strike 18 trimaran that uses a beach cat for outriggers and rig (scroll down for the newest latest news).

    WOW !!
IS IT REALLY YOU ?? YOU AND "BUTCH" FROM SO AFRICA WERE THE ONLY TWO POSITIVE REPLIES TO MY RECYCLED BOAT(S) TRI.

I WAS GETTING DEPRESSED BUT NOW I'M REALLY FLYING........WOW !

I DID CHECK OUT HE "STRIKE TRI" AS YOU SUGGESTED THE OPEN DECK VERSION IS WHAT I SORT OF HAD IN MIND.
EXCEPT I AM USING A OPEN DORY INSTEAD OF BUILDING ANOTHER HULL.
I INTEND TO USE A FOLDING CANVAS TOP INSTEAD OF PLYWOOD.

WILL ALSO USE FULLY BATTENED SAIL, JIB, AND HAVE SPINNAKER (MAYBE)

MAST AND RIGGING IS ALL "HOBIE" RECYCLED

UNDEERSTAND YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT PUNY FLOTATION OF HULLS
SO I WILL FIRST EXPERIMENT WITH SAME ELEVATION ON ALL THREE HULLS HOPING SOMEHOW IT WILL FIND IT'S PLACE IN THE WATER.
I HAVE NOT PERMANENTLY FIXED THE PONTOONS TO THE MAIN HULL SO AS TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS LATER. ALSO I WANT THE OPTION TO
REMOVE CAT FROM CENTER HULL, JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT.

    I'M TRYING TO GET
    STABULITY
    SPEED
    BETTER SEATING POSITIONS
    MORE DRY
    USE WHAT I HAVE

Hi Gotta, the schemes got some merit, I've seen in person & recently for sale on ebay a 505 sailing dinghy with surfcat add on tri floats, apparently a really good boat for some initial sail training/spi sets etc too, probably not the best of both worlds but a good compromise & a very usefull & vesatile set up for inshore/sheltered sailing/fishing/motoring & just good fun, yeah & post some pics. All the best in your endeavours from Jeff :)

No RCOD's have been used to construct Tri's . But knowlage and the sharing of Knowlage in good old SA is not taken for granted. Very few will depart with info. So we re invent the wheel over and over. Only we try and do it better. Woods Cats now as a traditional boat freak I would venture to say these cats I can understand as well as Wharram 'Cats'
