    FABULOUS!

The wonderful staff at the Bancroft Library have scanned the other photo of 'Duster' (Wm. Letts Oliver collection, Maritime 102) and made it available to me.

    It's fabulous!

But while the scanning was paid for, I asked them wait with charging me the usage fee until I'd seen it.

So now I get to have this terrific photo all to myself for a day or two, and you guys will all have to wait in suspence! HaHa!

Despite the silence in this thread, I suspect one or two people are little curious?

I haven't received the library's email that the usage is squared away yet, but here's a teaser for anyone interested:

Duster (and its name is not in doubt anymore) has that item for which Dirk Kramers coined the term 'Grand Central Junction'.

And Jo Richards, who had much earlier designed said 'Junction' for Bertarelli's Le Black, would I think be amazed to see that Duster has a 'Y'.

It is amazing to see this on San Francisco Bay - of all places, considering recent events - sometime between 1877 and 1879 (the date is still uncertain).

    Absolutely amazing.

    ^^^

    I agree, too!

What sort of pedantic lunatic is going to waffle and waiver and throw the Historical Multihulls thread helm a-lee, while he waits for the librarian to acknowledge payment and send their contract?

    ... Moi?

    Lol.

In my own defense I'll say this: The waiting would be much longer if I were to do the sensible thing, and hold off while writing this up as an exclusive for some la-di-da yachting publication!

Console yourselves that it's just another day after 130 some-odd years, until you see it.

    ;)

But it's very enjoyable to have your impatient feedback!

    ...

How long ago that was... My paternal grandfather, who was an engineer and infantry captain, worked in the Pacific Northwest during the 1880's.

I have old photographs from him which show teams of men felling massive trees out of the wilderness, to clear the land at Gray's Harbor, Washington State; there are Native Americans in dugout canoes in several pictures.

And those photos are from about ten years after the photos taken of Duster!

    Duster

Blackburn, impatience is a vice-and I don't have that particular one. But I'm sure looking forward to this and I appreciate all your effort! Now, come on man.......

Hi Guys I am new to this site.
    I run cclassracing.com
I only came across your forum because someone used a photograph I took of Quest III back in 1967 and it is on my site advertising the fact we have written the full history of LAC - i.e. 61-'13. 400 plus pages. I am trying to get crowd funding to pay for printing.
I obviously would welcome help with getting word out about funding. I am also very interested in comments about various boats.
Finally I think the person who used my picture I think stated that the Australians won that series which is untrue Peter Schneider and Bob won on Lady Helmsman.
