    Yes, CT 249...
My mother, Dot Swart, typed and proofread the entire book (on a manual typewriter) for many months during 1968. There was another lady helping too. One of my copies has a very personal inscription to my parents from Rudy and his wife Ivanelle.
    Thanks - Dave

Hello Dave, I'm a life long CSK fan, that book got me into multihulls as a youngster. Do you know how to get any of the plans? I'd like to peruse something performance wise between Allez Cat and Imi Loa from 40' - 50'.

    CSK Plans

    Hello Cavalier mk2,
I possess only a few, very small copies of any CSK plans - not usable to build anything. The guy who has it all is Rudy's son Barry Choy. My last contact with him was through the Choy Design website (choydesign.com). He's in Honolulu, his email and phone numbers are on the website.
    Aloha,
    -Dave

Good friend John Cadwallader is in Francais at the moment and visited Lorient and La Trinite, I mean you have to don't you? Wife rolls eyes :D. It looks like Enza/Legato is hauled out and in the shed and getting some major repair and renovation.

    Ian Farrier - With Comps

OK, so it's not strictly a 'Historic Multihull' but it is a bit of history produced *by* a historic multihull designer....

Don't imagine his With Compliments slips still look like this one...!!

Yeah, I was more referring to the business card sized With Comps slip I found in an envelope that came with my Command 10 plans....

The name on the hull is Trailertri Too. I wonder if that was one Ian built or a customer's boat?

    Yes, mate.
The old guy I got them from bought the set form Ian originally, back in the early eighties, was build no 7.
He copied some of the drawing sheets so I have almost enough for two full sets, and some extras that could be added to, to make three sets.
Just got to find a local plan copier....
But I'd have to sell them if I paid for copies, as I know it's about $100 to get a set done, and I'm not sure I feel 100% comfortable doing that with Ian still alive and kicking - even though he has not sold the Command 10 plan-set for 20 years, and now no longer sells plans to homebuilders at all....
    Waddya reckon?

If my memory serves me, I think Trailertri Too (680) was finished by Farrier for an Australian Navy Officer.

    Flippin' Machete!

Here’s a great story – two years ago my friend Bruce from here in Nevada invited me to go sailing on a catamaran when we were all going to be in So Cal. His friend Jerry Wetzler has a 40 ft. Lock Crowther design called “Freestyle” in Dana Point (nice boat, Jerry built it over 40 years ago).

So, when he found out my dad was Jack Swart, we really hit it off. He told me an amazing story about 40’ Machete (my avatar photo boat, CSK designed for my dad).

Sometime around 1980 he and his regular Freestyle crew were in the Tri-Island race, which is usually an over-nighter. Freestyle was in second place, chasing Machete of course. It was night time in late winter or early spring. The wind was blowing hard, and they could see Machete’s running lights out in the distance. But then, all of a sudden they couldn’t see the lights – did their electric system fail?

A short time passed, and the crew of Freestyle could hear people hollering in the darkness. Then they could see flashlights – Machete had flipped over!
Jerry said that to this day he can still hear Machete’s crew screaming “Freestyle – Freestyle” in the night. They were clipping along the back side of Catalina and got hung up on a thick kelp bed that they couldn’t see, and over they went, into the pitch-black, ice-cold Pacific. Jack dove under and into the dog-house where a little light was still working, and he grabbed 2 flashlights.

Freestyle got Machete’s crew on board and thawed them out. Then a unanimous decision was made to finish the race, which they did – first place. Machete’s crew was skipper Jack Swart, Warren Seaman and Vince Bartolone.

Jerry was pretty sure it was only those 3 guys. And when he told me that story, it all came flooding back – I hadn’t thought about it in 30 years! Then I remembered my dad telling me, “don’t tell your mother!” I also recall that the next day, Dad (an airline pilot by profession) rented a little plane and he and Vince went looking for Machete. It wasn’t locked into a kelp bed, so they calculated which way the wind and current might move the upside-down boat . They figured South. They looked for a couple hours and couldn’t find her. So, before giving up, they flew North and found her off the West end of Catalina.

The Coast Guard helped tow her in upside-down, but I don’t remember anything about getting her righted, or where she was berthed, probably Long Beach Marina.

Rudy Choy flew over from Honolulu for a full military style inquisition and de-briefing. His 3 closest friends, 2 of them business partners, and 2 of them the best catamaran sailors in the world, (Warren Seaman being both) had just succeeded in doing the absolute unthinkable.

Each set of plans is for ONE BOAT ONLY.

    The Command 10 was updated to the F-9 and then the F-32 so it is still very much Farrier's intellectual property {Alive or not!!!}

    Buzzman,

The best thing would be to ask Farrier.
I expect we know the answer, but maybe he would understand that not everyone wants the latest most expensive plans.
It might matter if he thought he would be expected to answer questions and have some liability.

I met Burt Rutan (homebuilt aircraft) and he said the liability became more expensive than any number of plans he could sell. He was spending all his time in court over builders who did not follow the plans
