Echo Hill Outdoor School (ehos.org) is a small non-profit outdoor education program based on Maryland's Eastern Shore. We have students from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware visit us for residential field trips, and we educate them about our local ecosystems.
We have a fleet of 6 historic wooden work boats. The boats are used for a variety of classes and ventures that allow participants to study and discover first-hand the wonders of Chesapeake Bay ecology, history, and culture. Echo Hill programs include weekday classes (3 hours) on the historic workboats SPIRIT (1944) and TWILIGHT (1911) as well as multi-day programs on the buy boat ANNIE D (1957) and the skipjack ELSWORTH (1901). The wooden skiffs LEWEY and RIC support our multi-day programs.
We are currently looking for someone to take over the management of the fleet after one of our directors of 40 years has retired. These boats have been an integral part of our program for over 40 years, and the management of them has become a well-oiled machine. Experience is certainly a plus but is not mandatory. Someone who has a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn would excel in this role. Please help us spread the word.
