Hull Design and IPS System

Hi Guys ,

i am going to install Volvo IPS System on a Sport Fishing boat with a keel
What do you think about this solution , could be intereferences with the keel?
I have seen that one new yacht has been launched Riviera 6000

that have a similar Keel but as per installation guide of IPS page 69 is not suitable

OK, it says on p.69, "No keel", that is why you say it is "not suitable" ? The keel in the boat illustrated seems to have more to do with protecting the drives, as that part will likely ground first, than a necessity to keep the boat on track, judging by the underwater lines.

 

Doubt it is a student project, if he is really envisaging installing such drive(s), he should consult direct with Volvo about it, and have an accurate drawing of his boat to show them.

 

Thank you for reply , the hull had generally two inboard engines but the proposal is to install two IPS system .My doubt is also regarding the no straight buttock at stern location

 

The buttocks would be straight, but not parallel. The skeg certainly is needed, whether it cruels the performance of those drives, in turns at least, Volvo is best placed to assess, based on their experience.
