Advice on a boat i saw in Alexandria

Hi folks, just needed some advice regarding a boat i found which i really liked.
The construction seems to be the english style planking, the boat is old but was never put in the water.

I was thinking of using it for fishing trips for friends and such.
The boat builder is asking for 14,000 $ we do not have marine investigators so i am gathering as much information as i can before considering the next step.

The boat is made of mogno wood (as per the supplier).
What do you think ?

yah it was ! and it took a long time as well.

I have old pictures of the boat when it was constructed, i just feel its worth the effort and investigation.

I have attached various other pics (both old and new!) hopefully it will be a little clearer !

 

There are no floors (that I can see). These are part of the bottom framing and critical to hull integrity. Without them, the hull (and boat) is almost worthless

 

I am not sure i follow, can you please clarify ? I still have tones of pictures for that boat, i tried to cover just about everything.

 

I have no experience with boats that large, but what I saw looked very good. I could see no signs of deformation or sagging from being up on props or damage from wood degradation. Of course I don't know from photos if the wood carries any termites, etc. JSL makes a good point. Without the floors the thing would tear itself apart. I would not want to even move the hull without that flooring work having been completed.

 

I have 2 sets of pictures, ones i took myself and one from the builders in the building process.

I am not sure i understand what you mean by flooring, can you please clarify ?

 

The level thing you walk on acts as the brace that keep the sides of the boat from moving together or spreading apart.

 

So not the ribs holding the boat, or the planks holding the ribs together?
Would the the sawn frames negate the need for floors if closely spaced and large? (yes i am cheating !! i have no idea what that means!!)

 

The floor braces the ribs and adds strength. Without the floor the ribs would not be strong enough.

I do not know what you mean gentleman but, of course, there are no floors, which are a very important element to the resistance of the frames and in ship groundings.
