AVS question

    Looking at my book "The wooden fighting ship" I thought I would compare the AVS of a Napoleonic English 74 with a modern yacht 1600 tons 46ft beam and about 18 feet draft. when you plug in the numbers the screening Value is a MINUS.:confused:mik

    Obviously the problem is I don't know the ballast ratio for a 74. I checked in my library no result. I found the values for a typical 32gun frigate of 1760's. Its AVS works out as a shade over 130 degrees. Ballast ratio being 13.17%. mik:D
