I am trying to identify this boat but not having much luck. [IMG]

The it may be a Van de Stadt design but we have not been able to find the manufacturer or the year it was built. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Ed, think it's a . . . .

    Van de Stadt 59

Van de Stadt design No. 401
    LOA 17.50 m (57' 5'')
    LWL 14.00 m (45' 11'')
    BEAM 4.98 m (16' 4'')
    DRAFT 2.35 m (7' 8½'')
SA 184 m² (1980.5 sq ft)
    Steel construction
    Design Year 1985

    Don't know why it's called 59 while it's actually 57' 5'' . . .

The Van de Stadt Skope 60 has the same Design No. and has almost the same figures (except for LOA) but is built of Aluminium.

The added hull length could be caused by a "sugar scoop" style stern since LWL is the same, and she has a bit more sail area because the lighter hull allows for more ballast.

    Skope 60

Van de Stadt design No. 401
    LOA 18.00 m (59' ½'')
    LWL 14.00 m (45' 11'')
    BEAM 4.98 m (16' 4'')
    DRAFT 2.35 m (7' 8½'')
SA 188 m² (2023.6 sq ft)
    Aluminium construction
    Design Year 1986

See: Van de Stadt --> list of all designs.

The boat you posted is listed twice here and here on the Virgin Islands, but for different prices and different building years. But for sure it's the same boat . .

I would call it a sailboat rather than a motorsailer, though.

    P.S.

On second thoughts, she qualifies as motorsailer as well . . .

    Thanks Angelique

That is some of the same info I have found. It seems to be very similar to the 59 and 60 with slightly different interior. I was wondering if you or anyone else might know the builder and/or location it was built.

Both links have the same phone number listed, so you could call the seller, or send an e-mail for info I guess . . .

Email VDS and give them the links to the pictures and they should give you the design details that they have on file.

Lovely hullform, fast cruising . Look up Trintella 57A for a similar VDS design.

I think I know this particular boat. It was dismasted and has a replant from a larger design with an oversize rig and the boom is too high.
