FAST 2011, planing cylinder

    Thanks to Leo !!! I found the paper by Yen et al. in the part C-10-1
    Has anybody studied the paper yet?
    The loss in buoyancy according to their equation (5) is at least an order of magnitude larger than in the equations for the flat plate (Sedov, Savitsky, Payne...).
    I have doubts that this can be attributed to the cylinder-form only.
    Any ideas?

    I've only skimmed through it.
    I wonder whether they should be adding the hydrostatic loss on the transom?
    It probably won't change their conclusions though.
