Wheelchair Accessible PowerCat

This is my custom built and designed 42" PowerCat which allows a person in a wheelchair to skipper and live aboard. The boat has a huge amount of space and is designed so that the steering station, main cabin and bathroom are all fully accessible.
The boat is beautiful and it's performance is amazing but it's time to move onto the next project. I want it to go to a good home, and because it's such a specialised project, I was wondering if anyone would know of someone who would be in the market for this type of boat or interested?

This is not new. For years, in some countries, new passenger ships must be adapted for use by disabled people. The Maritime Administration reviews the new projects, taking into account, among others, this idea and does not give the building permit if the rules are not met.

 

Thats a really nice looking boat with some great ideas. Where is it getting built? What is the price range?

 

Congrats to both BCD and AliK on your impressive wheelchair accessible designs - they both look like very practical and versatile (and pretty) craft.
BCD, I think that you should have no problems finding a new home for your cat.

Alik, start your own thread, preferably AFTER you have something to show for it other than pretty pictures.

BCD, I would think there would be plenty of interest in your boat. You should do a sales pitch for it, describing it's performance, mechanical and handicapped features, in a sales oriented website close to the area where the boat would be physically available to be seen and could be bought economically without high transport costs.

You could start here by telling us more about it's construction and features. Photos are a very good thing to include in a sales pitch, you can't hardly have too many.

 

Fair comment SamSam. I dug up a couple of construction photos. The first shows the engine and tank placement deep in the hull. The second shows the strip plank Duflex hull layup. Bi-ax S-glass and epoxy layers followed. About 4 above water and 6 below.

 

I'm with Sam Sam, I'd like to see more details of the specs, it is an impressive-looking vessel.

 

Calm down. This is NOT Your responsibility to define where and when should I post info on our design. We have complete design and engineering to RCD and the craft is in build.

 

Well, do whatever you want, see how far it gets you. Maybe you don't know what hijacking a thread means. It's the process of replying to a thread with a different topic. BCD is trying to sell his boat, not open a discussion of handicap accessible boats in general. He's not trying to sell your boats. If you want to sell your boats, you should open your own thread. It's simple.

BCD, do you have photos of the finished boat, like the interior and engine rooms etc? A description of the accommodations and amenities, cooking, heads, berths, generators, tank capacities, electronics etc?

 

If someone wants to sell the boat, should post it in Boats for Sale somewhere. This thread is in Boat Design subforum. Meanwhile, I am not 'hijacking the thread' or selling anything (we have nothing to sell!) buy trying to show how design task for wheelchair is solved.

Behind this design, there was a special study in ergonomics of wheelchair user and compliance to CE requirements within accessibility constraints. The research paper with this design was a case study will be published in coming issue of IJMD. But I am sure personally You are not interested to know about all that...

Come on, it's just a forum. Any input or information is good because there isn't that much information out there on these type of projects.
