Framework for Winter

    Lets see some of your design idea for Winter Frameworks to cover your boats.

    It was 26 degrees outside last night and I bought a couple big green Poly Tarps to cover the 25 ft Center Console boat.

    Just need to make some type of frame to support it from the T top that will hold a few feet of snow without colapsing.

    The most stable structure (and decent for keeping snow from collapsing it) is the arch:

    Make up some hoops, tie them together along longitudinal rafters, anchor to the ground, and you have a place to store your boat for years.

    If snow is a primary concern over windage, the A frame is a good alternative:

    45 degrees roof angle. Central ridge, straight, I use a 2 x 6 on edge atop two forked posts which are fitted so that they stand up at each end of the boat.
    What matters most is that steep angle. Too shallow an angle and the snow could sag in and in a bad winter (snowy) the tarp can get trapped by snow around the boat and then it's impossible to fix and eventually the load could tear the tarp or worse, damage the boat.

    Move somewhere that the water doesn't freeze, keep the boat in the water, sail in January!
