Update on Dometic Amonia fridge.

Okay! It DOES work on 110 volts.
The propane burner is not only a matter of disinterest to me, I want it GONE!
Don't trust gasoline or propane on boats.

I'll remove the propane burner, and examine potential for cooking the ammonia with the hot sides of Peltier chips, and with a canola oil candle, in extremis.

Upon close examination of unit, a thermostat on the refrigerant coils has been disconnected.
Since the fridge WORKS with this thermostat disconnected, obviously it's a normally OPEN circuit. Closes when cold enough or too cold, and shuts off.

Right now it's not only a running fridge, it's a run-away fridge.

Can't see that is a problem when NOT using propane.

If its 90 degrees in the van the food will only be kept at 50 degrees if you keep the door closed all of the time. I have talked to Dometic repair mechanics and measured the temperature myself. The consensus is that 40 degrees F is the maximum temperature that can be reached."

Well that's better than the Peltier chip's 30 degree lower than ambient capability.
Maybe I can get some synergy going hybriding these two technologies.

Doesn't cost me anything but time and fried brain cells to try it.

Need a new locale for the wet locker. Fridge goes next to companionway.

Removed the gas line parts in picture one.
This simplified the electrical, mechanical system, all located top of box. Picture 2.
A 110 volts circuit goes to a heater in chimney or a 12 volts circuit goes to a different heater in chimney.
That's it. But I'll try adding just a tiny bit more complexity and versatility!

Cleaning the box interior with muriatic acid. Picture 3.
It's MUCH cleaner in the picture than when I started.

Will take 2 or three more applications of acid to remove all the rust stains.

Remember these two pictures?

The galley in salon 'on a different level", is in the area that's different in these two pictures.

The low windshield in the cabin was removed, and the cabin extension with deck locker added.
The wide oval windshield hole in cabin still exists and the area forward of it was closed in.
It's now a cabin width locker/shelf chest high and dry.
Perfect for a microwave and a toaster oven.
Appliances, pots and pans and crockery easy access storage.
See everything, good natural light from side windows and hatch, no bending over or stooping, or crawling on hands and knees.
So I installed my galley in this space.
The two SeaSwing gimbaled stoves mount beside each other, amidships in the lower windshield frame. Can gimbal every direction.
The tub is under the SeaSwings to catch possible spills, and the cabin top hatch above to let steam and smoke out.
Galley on a different level, I wasn't fibbing. Window high. Galley in a window.

Mr E., I´ve been ill with a tropical desease. After half a year with fever up 40 deg. Celsius every day and useless antibiotic therapie my doctor gave me a med. called Allopurinol 300 five times the normal treatment. After 14 days I`ve got fever up to 42 deg. C with bursting headache und vomiting for hours.
But after 3 days I woke up in the morning and fever was gone together with the tropical desease. But it nearly killed me.
A year later I had again the same problems and again the same treatment. And now I´m free since 26 Years.
When I asked for a diagnosis, the doc spoke of intracellular parasites (bacteria ?) --- but nobody was able to identify them and there are -- may be 20 000 different species of them and the number ist still growing.
I´ve never used again antibiotics, only colloidal silver which I am preparing myself for me and my family and it works fine after some testing. I`m not silver grey now, only some of my hairs.

Sounds like you have been through an ordeal. Allopurinol is a drug used to lower uric acid levels, (a gout treatment). I will be researching what you have mentioned here, thanks for the info.

Glad you liked them. I think as a person entirely acquainted with the local idiom, I have been annoyed on many occasions by Australian movies that are so cliched and caricatured to the point of inducing nausea, they ought to be charged with fraudulent misrepresentation ! But there are a few exceptions, no doubt.

No, today I am good. Last week I had symptoms, but not acutely. My biggest concern is pericarditis, which is inflammation around the heart, potentially dangerous. Lyme disease can cause it, amongst dozens of other effects. Standard treatment is Ibuprofen, but it upsets my stomach badly these days. Lyme disease seems to pass through stages, for many months I had bad night sweats, waking in a lather at 2 or 3 a.m., usually accompanied by severe joint pain in one random joint ( hip, knee etc) that was crippling but disappeared within hours. That no longer applies. At other times I have balance problems with light-headedness and mild nausea, especially if walking around in a darkened environment, with limited visual cues. I was in a museum that had an exhibit with just a few downlights focused on parts of the display, to supply "mood", I rapidly became light-headed and queasy. Doctor said it could be anxiety. Same thing happens if I walk in a darkened house.

Some of the symptoms you describe, are symptoms of salt/sodium chloride intolerance.
Seems it frequently develops among elderly, who are forced to adopt low sodium diets.

My mom would suddenly experience sea sickness symptoms standing in her own living room, and sometimes fall due to dizziness.
Aches and pains and profuse night sweats too.

Once the sodium intolerance was diagnosed and a salt free diet initiated, all these symptoms disappeared.

have you been checked for aversion to sodium?

Certainly you've heard of "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome Headache".
They use LOTs of MSG. Mono-sodium glutamate.

Makes sodium intolerant people VERY sick!

Salt can cause hypertension, I use quite a bit of unrefined salt, but don't have high blood pressure. I have a whole range of symptoms of Lyme, but not the fatigue many complain of. One of the peculiarities of Lyme disease is that symptoms tend to appear after sitting or lying down for lengthy periods. Go figure ! The light-headedness I ascribe to the ears being affected, I have also got tinnitus now, which arrived at the same time as the balance problems. Common with Lyme.

Men like yourself, and me, who spent a lifetime working outdoors and sweating a lot, craved salt, the body needed it.

Now we are older and retired, the salty foods we developed a preference for, can cause health problems.

I'm not a doctor. Suggest you ask one.

If it IS a growing intolerance for sodium, that has a CHEAP EASY cure!

Everyone tests negative here. The organism being tested for, is the one found in the US, and clearly not the one found here, though it produces quite similar symptoms. Hence the parliamentary enquiry underway to get some action on that front. The first acute symptoms I had was extreme soreness in the toe joints, to the point of having difficulty walking. I only found out months later that this feeling of the feet being badly stone-bruised, is regarded as the initial symptom of Lyme. The doctor just shrugged the shoulders and said I had "Metatarsalgia". Which translates as painful toe joints. Thanks for nothing ! Only when I began waking with a sensation like an electric motor running in my innards, and googled "internal body vibration" did I come across it as a symptom of Lyme. I then looked at the other symptoms of Lyme, and realised I had it. The only sensible "professional" opinion I have got on the matter was from a naturopath, who suggested it was a complaint you could only get when the immune system was down. She asked if I had been taking any antibiotics prior to contracting it. Yes, I had two courses of antibiotics in conjunction with root canal work, and it had upset my stomach for quite a while. "That's it" she said, your immune system has been over-worked fighting bad bacteria in the gut, allowing the opportunistic Lyme, which may have been lurking in my system for years, to take hold. Made a lot of sense to me. Doctors on the other hand, pffttt !

He's in the business of keeping expensive animals healthy, not MANAGING symptoms.
