Arctic could end be ice-free in a year: scientist​

New satellite images released by NASA show there has also been a dramatic decline in the amount of perennial sea ice in the Arctic.

However the space agency says there has been a slight recovery in the amount of seasonal ice covering the Arctic.

Last summer, the perennial sea ice, the oldest and thickest kind, melted by a record amount, allowing ships to navigate the North-West Passage connecting the Atlantic to the Pacific.

A scientist from the US Naval Academy, Ted Maksym, says it is only a matter of time before there is no Arctic ice left at all.

"For the first time, as far as we're aware, there is no thick, old ice at the North Pole," he said.

"So again, if we have another warm year like we did last year, it could be for the first time in recorded history, an ice-free North Pole."

It finally happened, some one through a hand grenade into a Mosque in South Thailand. I wondered when that would happen.

I would build the biggest prison seen on the planet and imprison every man and boy over 12. After extensive background research release them one by one.

 

No Frosty not a prison a school and lots of non-sexual loving care... Easiest way - find your own high deserted island - or make it deserted - by doing some of the stupid things that stupid people are doing...

I only did a couple as a lateral form of a Joke... I wish I had a boat - naaah not yet duty to look after mum.... Not what you would call "hard work" but it does tend to stress me out significantly... Before this I would have responded with something cruel like "just do it - easy job" but watching deterioration and slowly growing dependence kinda hurts - and there is no break if one has a heart... I couldn't put mum in care unless it was maybe near "the end", which is years away...

My break is this forum.. Learning and preparing for when I will be able to venture forth on the seas again? Thanks all... See ya soon

Two well respected Islamic writers were discussing the idea of Muslims orthodox veiw that muslims are not allowed to change their religion. (Just discussing it) one of these Cleric nutters called for them to be beheaded. Ooh

It was @#$%^$% birthday yesterday and the discovery channel covered a respectfull explanation to non muslims who @#$%^&* was.

He was a normal man, a caravan manager, and one night while on his own and no one else arround the Angel Gabrielle came to see him and wrestled him into submiiting himself to being the messanger of god.

Ok Ok give me minute here,--if #$%^& is the only god then who does Gabrielle work for? Its just a question ,I dont know the answer , no need to check my ip address and behead me and then stone me to death. Im trying to understand.
