Forget the childish, ignorant talk. Feds and pals are seriously into taking over your lives, playing you, and taking everything you earned. All central banks in many countries function the same way. They are an international banking cartel, very powerful, very rich ... cause .... they own the money printers, and politicians. There is, however, a way to bypass their traps. First, never keep money in banks, they never pay high enough interest to make a profit, mostly your money just keeps up with inflation if you are lucky. You can invest in commercial real estate that you control, residential apartment buildings are good. Certain shop locations are good. Keep 30 year perspective, is this place gonna b anything later or a desert. You can play markets. Rules are simple - buy low, sell high, good products. You can buy index fund s&p500 at lows, say spring 09, sell it in 3-4 years before next recession. Gold is worthless, has no essential properties, not like food, just a pretty metal, but if you buy it cheap, $300 an ounce several years ago, you can sell it now for over $1000. When something goes up too high, to unsustainable levels, it usually comes down .... hard. Like .coms. Like gold will eventually. Gold may go up first then come down, but you are taking a risk by holding it. I bought my first house cash. Rented condos, saved, invested, no mortgage. Try that if you can, do not borrow from banks. They profit from it, not you. I cut up all my credit cards years ago, now I use only ATM bank cards. 29% my a.. Only one good thing to borrow money is for education. Many times you will make more by getting degrees in right fields, so those loans are worth it. US has cheap stafford loans, perkins, etc. 3.5 fixed when I borrowed, for 30 years. Nice. Never pay full price up front. There is almost always a way to get it cheaper. Even a movie - you can go to first show, matinee, 35% less or so. By saving more you can invest more. You can also play many markets including real estate. My mother bought a condo as investment property on my advice for 65000 US in 2000, sold it on my advice for almost 200,000 in 2006, rented it to tenants the whole time. Made nice money for free. My friend ignored my advice, bought a house in 2005, now his mortgage is under water for at least 5-10 years. Maybe even 20. US cash is just paper, soon becomes worthless. You need to either make money from it or convert to real assets. Check long term goals. If your goal is to retire in Paris, you can buy condo there now, rent it to tenant for years, then when you are ready to retire, you get a free condo that needs a little renovation. You can do this on any scale, from small to large. You get rich, banks get poor. That's one way of beating the system. JFK tried another, didn't work out too well with that executive order to have US govt print its own money.

Ahhhh...brings the memories of my own encounters and introductions to some members.

But the above two I thought would have been on the same page, given the early postings of the new member.

Gee, this is great fun! I started reading this thread because of the title(obviously), but was about to wander off, as I'm no economist and, frankly, the subject bores the hell out of me - no offense to those who enjoy it, my own shortcoming - but then I started to read a post by our young superhero & now I'm hooked! Good thing I didn't reach further on my guess, nyalex, because I probably would have guessed, incorrectly, that you were an orphan, like so many of your comrades, and had suffered the brutality that is inflicted on so many of those, when pressed into service. I was also thinking Russian mob, as I figured you didn't arrive in the U.S. with a cardboard suitcase.

Don't be shy about sharing your opinion of Canadians, it would only hurt my feelings if I thought you were worthy of my respect. I'm not sure whether it is your penchant for using the term "monkeys", or that you feel the need to tell people you don't know about all of the fights you were almost in, or that most of your almost-fights end with a woman bailing you out of the situation, but, rather than being impressed, I find myself laughing at your "look how tough I am" posts. Look, rather than sharing these delusions of grandeur with us, why don't you save the insults & try to be a good guy? From what you've said, you came here to learn about boats, so that you could make an informed choice in what you want to have built. How difficult will that be if you continue to piss on everyone's cornflakes? Lighten up, man!
Still, if it is important to you that we believe your long tales, it would sure be easier if you put up some documentation, because, like I said, I don't buy it. MBA? Maybe. Trained FBI, etc.? no, don't buy it. All of the other crap, combined? Crap. Bits & pieces, no more. Why don't I believe you? People with those credentials aren't unsolicited a-holes. They don't have such large egos, because that is a serious weakness. remember, no one else, here, challenged you to talk about yourself, you volunteered your fable.

You commented on meditation. You should see the house we are building in the southern Philippines, on a cliffside next to our beach. The balcony that fronts our bedroom is for that very purpose and the view is spectacular, very serene.

Btw, when you all come to a consensus on the value of gold bullion, please, let me know. I'd hate to think that I bought a lot of ballast last spring!

Welder fitter I wondered where you had got to. Our Eastern friend said he was building a 60 foot schooner. Im sure I read that some where --you know how fast the information comes at you.

Nyalex, you must have some photos of your build and Im sure we the members would dearly like to see them.

Perhaps our mutual friend needs a thread all on his own, called----errrrr Nyalex I suppose!!!

It would after all get this crap out of masses hair and he can get back to his gold analysis.

nah you got it all wrong there Masrapido I was just hoping for a free vacation

guy said he would put up a plane ticket and some prize money and I was just taking him up on the offer. If he's a real sport he would send two tickets that way I can drag the girl along.

no animosity included, I have no need or intention of actually hurting the guy and just thought for a few minutes doing what I do fairly regularly anyway I might as well get to see some of the world and scope out some of the sites.

should be a good time actually but who knows
he might not come through on it
to bad actually I was kinda thinking a nice few weeks away from all this cold weather might just be the thing

    no big deal
    nothing to get excited about
just looking forward to some palm trees, nice sandy beaches, maybe do a little snorkeling. Its bound to be a good time.

    cheers
    B

You misunderstoon, buddy. When I said I'll put up some cash, that's for the fight. You'd have to put up cash, too, winner takes all. You gotta make it worth my time, friend. You don't think UFC or boxers fight for free, do you?

Yeah, Frosty, you right. I did originally come to boatdesign to design and build custom boat. Some really cool awesome people who deal with facts and reality helped me out (no, not you Frosty). Thanks to them. So, now my naval architect is designing 60 footer based on 85 van dam nordia classic staysail schooner. There is no build yet, genius. We are still designing all the details, trims, construction method, etc. Some people told me to be nice too you cause you been around so long ... but .... somehow big baby like you is gonna keep coming here and do lots of ignorant baby talk indefinitely. Try to be like Mark, at least he is amusing.

Good point. Good luck with that. Not gonna happen from some. I suspect some may be jealous, as one wise man here indicated. Some just come here to play around for entertainment. Every time I do an economic related thread, some genius comes around to start things up over the internet. I mean, these "brave" men wouldn't even think of that in real settings. Then some have the nerve to accuse me of lying and making up stories about me. Let's see ... what do I get for lying? More money? No. Promotion? No. Maybe new house? No. New boat? No. No benefits. At all. This is the thanks I get for contributing a little to economic forum. Don't expect too much out of some of these people, they will be here indefitely until they drop dead of coronary, living wasteful lives. Not my problem.

Here's a story of one FBI agent I and we trained in our dojo. His name was Michael. He was upset. According to Mike, he and NYPD were working on some case, and there was an interpersonal problem between Mike and one cop with 15 years experience on the force. Cop says, let's take it outside. The go outside, Mike get his a.. kicked. He say cop hit him in the gut, it was all over. Mike thought he could fight, but obviously not well enough. So, he wanted training, being 5'11" 180 lbs on how to take out experienced cops who are much larger and fought well. So, he started his training. He did well, and after some time stated that he was now comfortable in his skills and left the dojo. We suggested that he continues training through all his life, he said he will, he got his confidence back, and off he goes. Good guy, probably very successful senior FBI agent by now.
