    Team Gitana wins Fastnet(barely!) :
Maxi Edmond de Rothschild takes title fight to the wire and secures victory and the record - Gitana : Offshore racing stable created by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild http://www.gitana-team.com/en/a-1306/maxi-edmond-de-rothschild-takes-title-fight-to-the-wire-and-secures

"I've never experienced a finish like that before... It was incredible! We really had to work hard for this one," these initial impressions from Franck Cammas speak volumes about what the sailors had to endure aboard Edmond de Rothschild in this Fastnet Race. "It was short-lived but very intense and action-packed. We sailed a pretty good race. We spent a fair amount of time out front, but we also had our share of issues too, particularly when we hit the sandbank on exiting the Solent(emphasis dl)… It could've ended right there! We knew that after that the boat wasn't racing at her full potential, but it was really great to have a competitor like Macif right beside us the whole time as that spurred us on. Macif is the reference. The crew's always quick and this clash has taught us a massive amount. Finishing things off with a victory in this way… it's just fantastic", admitted the sailor from Aix-en-Provence just after crossing the finish line.

A new development from Team Gitana:
A new development aboard the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild - Gitana : Offshore racing stable created by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild http://www.gitana-team.com/en/a-1309/a-new-development-aboard-the-maxi-edmond-de-rothschild

"Some details about the new fairing.

Fairings on both arms existed in the initial design.

Aero CFD studies showed most gain for the rear..

The fairing not only reduces aero drag but also creates lift on the platform.

The fairing was made in 'Oratex' and is a flexible similar to glider wings.

The additional area of about 32 m2 weighs nearly 50 kg.

Studies predict a gain of more than 1 knot at 30 knots boat speed.

Seven versions were made before the final version."

Pressure Drop - Gitana Pulls Out Of Ultim Class http://www.pressure-drop.us/forums/content.php?9766-Gitana-Pulls-Out-Of-Ultim-Class

"Brest The Atlantic was a success for the entire class that Ultim forget the many breaks in the Route du Rhum. Two new ships are under construction: the new trimaran Macif and the new Banque Populaire with Armel le Cleac'h. Three potential buyers are in the running to buy the current trimaran Macif . The Sodebo Ultim 3 starts, should come out with a "skate wing" and its performance is expected on The Transat. It could also try a Jules Verne Trophy season. A planetary regatta between the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild and Sodebo Ultim 3 as the duel between Idec and Spindrift in 2015, could be amazing.
See the development of these Ultim, we say that finally, the results are rather positive. And more than ever, we approach more flight off. It will not remove the Gitana stable does having thought there first. Collective or not."
