It’s been quite a while since my last post. I get few hours to actually devote to the boat but I’ve made steady progress. Here are a few update pics. I’m working now on flushing the gunnel to the tops of the frames. I build a permanent structure for her in the back yard since the last hurricane took out the temporary one.
Next step is the clean up the inside and fillet all the frames to the ply. Still flopping on whether I want to do a planked deck or raise it and seal it. Plenty of upsides and downsides to each.

Gonzo watch the metric bashing or there will be an argument. We adoptees worship it and won't yield an inch.

I was about 14 when the metric system was made official here, and 50+ years later I still estimate in feet & inches but measure in metric. It causes a lot of mental conversions of doubtful accuracy.

Incidentally metric became the official system in the US about the same time. Hello! Get with the program you lot, fractions are cumbersome.

On sheathing, I bought a 20 odd year old Hartley TS16 in mid 80s. It was assembled with metal fasteners, resorscinol and a bit of polyester with chopped strand mat.

Whatever paint used had all but vanished and the surface of the marine ply was well checked, yet no delamination, and she was in remarkably good condition considering zero epoxy used in the build, and polyester resin can create more problems than it solves on wood.

I'd be following the designer's expert advice on sheathing and don't let water lie in the boat, it's the fresh that generally rots them.

The USA made the metric system legal to use in 1866. It is taking some time to catch on. I use both without problem, but metric is easier since it is integrated on all units except time.

It is the official US system now rather than approved, and the reluctance in uptake speaks volumes, as does the fact that many sheet materials are still sized in feet and inches, with dimensions given in metric like 2440X1220 mm plywood.

Nice Skip, we didn't have a lot of option with the metric, yet 50 years later, half the fasteners and tools sold are sized in inches.
