There posts a real man.

Lovely idea for a cutter but I am inclined to agree about the internal ballast not being as good as external. Is the cost saving really significant for this sort of boat? You aren't aiming at the low end of the market anyway.

the first part is one of the funniest thing i ever read,

the second, well no , the finished yacht wont be cheap, but a lot of people want to fit out their own boat, so the bare hull could be available, & they could with a designers supervision then fit it out the particular way they want it

and some boats are designed to have (anyway as a possibility) lower density ballast. Like most long keeled cutters with a deep forefoot are.

It make my day, I just wake up, it is 6.30AM and I went on my PC with my coffee, and Bingo I open your picture.
I tell you, boat never sieze to amaze me, and when I see something that beautiful, I say to myself what a beautiful day :)
    Thanks
    Daniel
PS The internal ballast is the best way to have a good boat.

Doesn't get much more 'classic' yacht than this.

Housing topmast with doubling makes for a lot of weight aloft, requiring more (internal?) ballast. Why not a pole mast like Ed Burnett uses on his cutters?

I'm convinced that the boat in question has the required amount of ballast and therefore the rightening moment. Besides housing topmast allows more area for the topsail compered to pole mast and better light weather performance.
