Full Rigged Catamaran

    I ask that because there is obviously a huge difference between a carbon fiber yacht and a steel warship.

    A fully rigged, square rigged ship has stays, and enormous wooden masts.
    Unstayed have to be bigger for the same sail area.

    LO tech probably works easiest with stays.

    Of course there were later ships with steel masts. On a thread some years back there was a case made for efficient steel masts (light enough) but I don't know if it was true.

    The original Dynarig proposals were apparently for steel tripod masts on gimbals. Might work with aluminum. Either would probably be less expensive -- though probably having more drag -- than the carbon fiber masts of the MF.
