    Danielsan Amateur designer-builder?

Back from holiday, had time to think and see,...

And now I am back on my design. I was once again just wondering:

what influence do the chine flats have? I have designed a hull with a 7.45LOA, 2.55m beam, 20 deg constant deadrise for 2/3 of the waterlength
the chine flats form a constant offset from the side of about 38cm for some 2/3 of the waterlength.

how will this affect the behaviour when making them smaller (larger)?

They provide lift and keep the spray down.

    Hi Daniel

I'm looking your design and maybe (I'm not an expert) your chines are too much wider. You have a deep Vee hull so I understand that you want soft ride. So wide chines certainly give your rough ride in waves. The buoyancy rise very fast when the chines hit water.

What is your hull's displacement ?
Do you need so much lift ?
Straks can help to to have enough lift with more gradual buoyancy incraise.

Very beautiful design. When do you start building ?

    Thx JF

    As a matter of fact,

I made some other models, as I intend to begin with a smaller sized model.
Indeed chines on this model are(where) too wide.

Wil post my last model, tonight, it's a runabout, a bit smaller, I intend to go for cored construction over wooden stations and fairing the thing as good as possible.

No more plug-no plug-plug no-plug, female or male,......

BTW how is your work progressing?

    greetings,

    Hi Daniel

I'm looking forward to see your design. When do you plan to begin building?

I'm in the building process. Finally, I choice to build using wood strip with exterior and interior fiberglass sheating in Epoxy. The most part of stripping is done and I now put the second of three coat of exterior fiberglass cloth. Me too, I'will try to "fairing the thing as good as possible".

I try a agressive design. Deadrise is 24 degres in the low section, 30 in the middle and 34 in the top section, a 15 cm wide chines. I put 2 strakes of 10 cm each sides. Remenber also the buoyancy collar. I know that design will be not too much stable at speed but I want very soft ride. If this boat is not so good, I will build another one more conservative.

I'll put picture on gallery in next days....
