    It's L (Lewis) Francis Herreshoff. That might help with the searches.

    Some time ago there was an article in Wooden Boat Magazine about LFH and his carved models. You may be able to research the article at the Wooden Boat site. That is a definite maybe.

    Rudder Mag 1948 november and december had the 2 part series. I think it also is in a contemporary book[let?].
