Forces on mast foot

It depends. In the mast compression load article, there are three methods. The first asking about mast weights, loads, ect. which outputs the minimum moment of inertia. The second method is the Skene's method which needs only 4 inputs and outputs the critical compressive load. The third is the NB method which is more about the vessels dimensions.

The one in Russian deals about catamaran and crossbeams but applicable to monohull as well. The critical load but shows how the mast and stays being configured. That is, the mast is not always perpendicular to the vessel, there are two sidestay that is not located in the center but slightly aft. and there is a forestay and backstay. Plus the wind loads. All have angled forces and must be resolved to a single point loading. This makes it more accurate.
