The funny thing about the case is that the honest 'Seat 600' reached a top speed of 20 knots in a tremendous surf controlled by a clumsy autopilot with little more brain than a crystal radio.

I have seen an 80 ton Baltic Trader towed cross an anchorage by an inflatabubble with a 2.5hp Yamaha.

Let's assume a case: crossing the Barbuda lagoon against a strong trade wind.

(And a 24-volt battery weighs 20 kilos)

The most logical thing to me seems to be plan A and plan B.
 
Anchor

Richard Danforth-type anchors are magnificent and very inexpensive.

But with their very long blades, they don't fit: the anchor hangs angled at the bow on a steel rail, and since it's a very small and light boat, it only has a line without a chain, and the anchor can be lowered and raised without stepping on the deck.

I've had a Mantus M1 for years, and I'm very very happy: it's a magnificent anchor, although it's expensive.

Since when did radar reflectors get so expensive? I always fitted Firdell Blipper as i was consistently told i had a good "contact" by watch keepers on large commercial shops. Perhaps an AIS transponder is the way forward.
 
Yes, all these devices aren't worth their price.

It's mostly to maintain symmetry with the VHF antenna, haha

It's a large reflector, and I found a very interesting study, and it sort of works. There aren't many options; the active one is very expensive.

(The bitter and ignorant on duty deserves a psychiatric examination)
 
With the radar reflector and the 5-watt all-round white light, we have reached the end.
