    Again...education can sharpen your understanding.

"The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world. As of 2006, a record 7 million people were behind bars, on probation or on parole, of which 2.2 million were incarcerated. The People's Republic of China ranks second with 1.5 million. The United States has 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's incarcerated population."

And again Michael .... bringing down the criminal is of vital importance in reducing CRIME.

Bringing down gun ownership has not been shown to reduce CRIME.

But, an awful large number of well programmed individuals spread the propaganda that crime is the result of legal gun ownership.

And that is just propaganda. Curtailing criminals reduces crime.

Reducing single parenting reduces criminal behavior.

Guns are only a tool. And in the right hands, guns are a tool for self-preservation.

7.5 million in jail or under some form of correctional supervision, it should be the safest place on earth!

    Wiki?

Get for real. A broke clock might be right twice a day, but wiki is wrong as often as a broken clock.

And for clarification, all people have the same "death rate." The absolute truth is everyone dies - 100% for all people, all countries.

America may very well have a lower violent crime rate , but these are massaged numbers.

The reported US violent crime rate includes only Aggravated Assault, whereas in most countries violent crime rate includes all categories of assault.

Be very careful when educating yourself with NRA magazines.

Yeah--and getting on a plane with a bomb on it is 1 million to 1 but getting on a plane with 2 bombs on it is a billion to 1 so always take a bomb with you, so you reduce you chances of their being a bomb on board by 1000.

    DUH!!!!

I think the point that is very clear, is that US citizens and residents that are willing to legally carry weapons can do so. The Law allows us to do it. Unlike many non-US residents in this thread, we don't criticize or try to change the gun Laws in your country. Neither do we insult your way of life. I think that there has been a marked difference in attitude.

After the Disarmament and Arms Control Act was passed by the Lange Labour government, the United States government suspended its ANZUS obligations to New Zealand. The legislation was a milestone in New Zealand's development as a nation and seen as an important act of sovereignty, self-determination and cultural identity.[6][7] New Zealand's three decade anti-nuclear campaign is the only successful movement of its type in the world which resulted in the nation's nuclear-free zone status being enshrined in legislation.[8]
