Apparently one of the ****** will be charged with aggravated assault....
Anyone else get the feeling it's not being taken seriously?
In Ireland it'd be an automatic 5 yr sentence.

In 2010 there were 358 murders involving rifles. Murders involving the use of pistols in the US that same year totaled 6,009, with another 1,939 murders with the firearm type unreported.
Also, the number of handguns used in crime (approximately 7,500 per year) is very small compared to the approximately 70 million handguns in the United States (i.e., 0.011%).[104]

Every year just over 30,000 people die in the US from gunshot wounds. Every two years more US citizens are killed by gunshot wounds than were lost in the entire Vietnam war.

Lets look at this another way. With a population of 310 million and an annual death rate of 8.3/1000 , we can calculate that 2,573,000 people die in the US each year.
Of which 30,000 die of Gun Shot - so if you live in the US you have a 1.166% chance that you will die of Gun Shot wound. The rate of gunshot deaths is about 8 times that of economically comparable nations.

Approximately 8,000 homicides annually occur with gunshot wounds. About 16,000 commit suicide with handguns. Nearly 1,000 die in gun related accidents each year. The number of persons shot by police is slightly elusive.

To all Americans, ( I am a gun lover and sharp shooter )
The biggest reasons why there are a lot of ugly shootings in U.S.A. is because most guns are freely available( full auto) to almost anyone! -There is the first problem.- Secondly, I think a lot of people who own guns there, never had PROPER training, except maybe the marines.
In South Africa, pre 1994 I learnt how to shoot at school from the age of 13!( I was ranked in the top 10, 3yrs running) PROPER training was given and I was taught to respect my weapon and other forms of life!! These were free courses given at most high schools across the country. Then after schooling, military training was mandatory! You became a man, and respected others.
This is what most young white males went through. We also have 'accidents' here, I call it neglegence. A father accidentally shoots his kid while cleaning his gun! What a ******* retard!! Who aims a loaded weapon at a child!! He should be working safely!! pointing down or away or better yet, no people around him. In most of these cases alcohol or no/lack of training were to blame.
    Guns don't shoot by themselves.
After '94 gun control really got bad here. Back in the day you had to get police clearance before owning a weapon( only semi-auto ) Now, you have to do courses, clearance, shooting lessons etc. It is almost impossible to get a licence now!! Criminals obviously don't need those for they just smuggle AK47's across the border or murder an innocent farmer for his gun collection.
It is a fine line, but I honestly think that more time should be given to training!

I was just reading a Der Spiegel article on Americas gun fetish and gun violence .

An interesting fact that in Germany..

" 85 Patronen verfeuerten Polizeibeamte in Deutschland im Jahr 2011 bundesweit auf der Jagd nach Verbrechern, 49 davon waren Warnschüsse. 36-mal gaben die Polizisten gezielte Schüsse ab. Dabei wurden 15 Personen verletzt und sechs getötet, wie aus einer Statistik der Deutschen Hochschule der Polizei im westfälischen Münster hervorgeht. "

In 2011 only 85 bullets were fired by police in Germany.

Germany strictly controls private gun ownership

Could that have been due to poor maintenance of the firearm?

Your heart is still beating probably because you had a gun on your boat and showed it.

Geese are another matter and perhaps we should ban them instead.

I do not think it seized and was say so like a lot of say so making him out a hero as the stories the NZ Herald states are different from the enquiry held.
It was a bolt action also they had been partying that day and later at night still drinking aboard the boat.
One of the crew later said on a documentary that Peter Blake was a good guy and that they would get that drunk they could hardly walk up the stairs of the boat they were on at that time.
