    A reasonable post.

IMO, in general, many people (outside of this forum), continue to exploit the "space for interpretation" to serve their own selfish agendas.

This is the typical re-interpretation of phrases completely out of context. They should be read in the light of a group of victorious revolutionaries who thought tyranny must be brought down with violence.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants".
    Thomas Jefferson

That's correct gonzo. The writers of the Constitution were seeking ways to empower citizens with a means to fight against tyranny in the future.

But without your arms, or your legs, it becomes rather difficult to accomplish... :p

USA sounds a bit Wild West.... Troy is worried if he goes camping, that some nutter might try to kill him for his car or beer! Sounds worse than South Africa!!
I love Ireland - people go into shops and leave the car running, with the keys in!
My neighbour doesn't lock his front door. Ever!
Not once have I felt threatened here. ( and I'm a Pom!).
There are guns here but I've not seen or heard one.
    Mentality is much more relaxed.

Blame that on the liberal media. America is not like that at all.

Our traditions have worked just fine up until now. Had Italy held to some of the same traditions, tyrants like Mussolini would have never been able to bully the populace into submission.

9th Circuit is the most liberal and most often reversed Circuit Court of Appeals in the United States.

Matthew 12:30 quotes Jesus; "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad."

Then you may as well give up your day job...or anything resembling a life.

Since there are roughly 315m people living in America and some roughly 6.8Billion in the rest of the world. Of that "rest of the world", even if just 10% fall into the "I don't like the US" that equates to more than 2 times the population of the US. (I suspect it is rather more than 10% too judging from my travels) all whom views America in a totally different light to you. And they are also not afraid to say so too.

Therefore either you will have to accept other people and from different cultures do not like America, for whatever reason, or you'll forever be on your soap box ranting away to others who wont listen to your point of view.

Well, this is where tolerance comes in....respecting someone else's position or point of view, even if it is diametrically opposite to yours. You say ok..fair enough...and let it be at that and get off the soap box....live and let live. Otherwise you'll forever be on your soap box and end up like those you tends to despise...blowing hot air and polemic arrogance and ignorance.

In New Zealand guns are for hunting and even then you have to pass the good character test to own a gun with no past violent behavior of any kind also guns must be locked away from harm’s way when not in use and police can come at any time to inspect the person who owns a gun to make sure his firearms are locked up as the law requires.
To own a pistol you need to be part of a club that it can be used in safe surroundings under strict controlled conditions.
The police do not carry guns however some do have them out of sight in car for an emergency and is rarely used.
New Zealand is s safe country to venture to remote places which been attacked by guns are you’re last worry.

On the other hand a movie was made in 1977 called Sleeping Dogs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ebqw-A6OIc with a NZ actor, Sam Neil about the New Zealand Government that tried to make NZ a police state and disarm rebels buy setting them up with terrorist crimes then the government brought in American mercenaries to kill the NZ rebels.
