    Dear Guys,

I need to install lightning arrester for solar boat, Just want to know if the conducting cable can be connected directly to hull below waterline by welding or bolting instead of putting brass plate. and then connecting the brass plate to hull by bolting.

What is the hull made of? If you are trying to protect electronics, a single cable will produce a huge electromagnetic pulse that they will be destroyed anyway

There is plenty of literature in the subject. It would help you to read about the theory and practice of lightning protection first. For example, round wires are not recommended; neither are flexible (stranded). Flat copper straps are preferable.

Sailboat or powerboat? Metal mast, other or none? Above deck construction material?

Without this information, its all guesses.
