Filling cavities on a cast alu surface to obtain perfect flateness

    Ya- sometimes a dab will do ya...
    JBweld has the advantage of being widely available.

    This whole thread is a bit tough as we have no ideal what kind of part is being fixed and what service it will see.

    I've worked a lot with castings, machining them, and it's always best to fill in imperfections with weld of similar metal

    a proper fill weld will allow you to do anything with the casting that you could do with it, had it no imperfections

    but then pics of it would be nice, how big is it, what does the surface do, is it a wear surface or just a surface on which something rests
