    Hi,

We are rebuilding a 65 ft. tour boat. This vessel was built by 3 Bouys (Kamloops, BC) in the late 80's. It's had several modifications over the years, and is currently operating as a 95 passenger tour boat. The main and upper deck is stick frame, and sheathed with what appears to be Fiberglass overlay plywood.

The wood is all done, and needs replacing, so this will be rebuilt from the aluminum hull up.

So far, we've struck out trying to find a supplier for the fiberglassed plywood. We can find all types of FRP composite panels, etc, but it all seems geared towards interior applications. The closest "like use" thing we find are FRP composite panels used in the RV industry. These may be fine, we just don't know.

The plywood (looks like fir - what's left of it) in the original sheathing has mostly disintegrated but the fiberglass skin is still largely intact. It's held up quite well.

I wonder, is there such a product as "fiberglass overlay plywood" that can be purchased? Or, do folks just make their own. Or, any opinions on the FRP panels used on RV's? RV dealers call it luauan, but I'm getting the impression that luauan is just a term used by these folks to refer to the sheathing ;-).

Any help is greatly appreciated. We prairie folk are out of our element here.

There are premade panels for this type of application, you get glass over plywood, foam, or just about anything you want.

Or, Twin Anchors in Salmon Arm does this type of work.

Thank you very much, those are both very good leads.
