Some jerk backed over the school's 8-man rowing shell, enough to knock out a big chunk, make many cracks and leave a visible tire print. (a hit and run too) The construction of the two-part shell appears to be very thin fiberglass and a honeycomb material. Has anyone had success repairing such a boat?

    Please respond directly.

    Thanks

It is possible to repair. The easiest way to find out the kind of core, resin and fiber used is to contact the manufacturer.

If you don't find any solution by March, I'll be working in Florida for a month or so. Let me know if you want me to stop by. Is Lang still coaching Snipe racing? I use to race at St. Pete YC for years.

    infusion in to nomex

You should not infuse into nomex core as all the cells will fill created an extremely high amount of resin that will be heavy and may well exotherm causing more damage

It is probably cloth and epoxy built, the core could be plascore or nida core. Please add pictures so we can help.

If it is not repaired by now, it probably is ditched, or composted... :)

Besides which those high performance rowing sculls are almost never built with anything as pedestrian as Nidacore; You can bet it'll be Nomex :p
