I know there is historical evidence about the loss of one eye by a recently installed hand hook. However, history is curiously silent about jock itch.

The pirates eyepatches item is from ± 15:41 to 37:54 in the video (some pirate laundry in between).

P.S. - Maybe you get a better quality video and sound from the download option on the page that's linked on top of this post, but don't know since I didn't try it.

I meant a patch on ONE eye, and leave the other open to see with in the sunlight.

    Hi Anthony,

I'm glad you're back to restore law and order on this thread, which you started yourself . . .

Please forgive my friend Poida and myself that we also have examined the possibilities to cover both eyes in order to get a complete and immediate adjustment of eyesight to darkness as soon as this ever would be required, of which we now know it works very well, while the possibilities to function in light and also in darkness are not too much limited by following this procedure, which makes it worth to do so.

Our small talk even made me nuts enough to talk about knots here, for which I of course offer my sincere apologies to everyone who came here with only an interest in patching one eye, and leave the other one open, which according to my previous post also seems to work with positive results.

From this all I conclude that for those who have a working pair, it would be wise to cover at least one eye at all times, in order to have the option of immediate adjustment of eyesight to darkness by just switching the eyepatch to the other eye.

So thanks a lot for bringing attention to this important topic . . . . :)

My only option is to carry a bright flashlight below decks.

The real answer to get immediate eye adjustment from light to darkness nowadays I think is to wear dark sunglasses in bright light, and take them off when going below decks or anywhere else where it's dark or less light, which even works for you Hoyt . . . . :)

For those who have a working pair of eyes this method also preserves the depth of field sight by the two eyes in both darkness and in light . . .

No, you also have the option to do as Kirsten in bright light, and remove the eyepatch in darkness to have immediate adapted eyesight there . . .

My problem is, the eye behind my patch can't see, so to wear it on the one that does see means I probably fall overboard.

Yes Hoyt, I know about your eyes, but Kirsten manages to do quite well with both her working eyes blindfolded in bright light, that's what I meant by . . . .

‘‘ . . . . do as Kirsten in bright light, and remove the eyepatch (from your only working eye) in darkness to have immediate adapted eyesight there . . . - ’’

This thread is not a patch on some of the better ones.
