Extended hull, extend strakes?

so I have finished the hull extension and had a question:
Should I or do I need to extend the lifting strakes?
I extended the hull 3’, so I add three feet to the strakes?

It looks like the strake lengths vary a bit on these hulls depending on length. For example the 24’ hull I started with had the outside strakes go all the way to the transom. Pictures of 26’ hulls show they end before the transom but it’s hard to tell by exactly how much, 2’? And the current hulls I see pictures of are slightly different so I don’t know I can use them as a reference.

    Depends on the speed goals.

Talking so somebody with the same hull but a flotation bracket instead of a hull extension, WOT is 40mph, cruise is 25- 30mph on a nice day.

I would not bother. If you were trying for 60mph; maybe then..

    See what others say.

    Bigtalljv,

    How many strakes?

    Any 3-view pictures?

    Awesome

I was going to comment, you don't need to run them all the same length!

Before I give my opinion I need ask why you extended the hull.

    To make it bigger :)
Going to outboards so I added the length for a swim step. I did copy similar boats that have all been done the same way. The original manufacturer and another guy who rebuild them do the same thing, add a couple feet of hull.

    In order of choice:

    I'd try it as is.
    Or
I'd add to the outside strake only and end it 6" from the transom.
    Or
Duplicate what's already there (extend them all by 3').

    Curious what others say...

Bear in mind, that the strakes aren't just for directional control, they are also structural in the area where the pounding occurs most, and to a lesser extent, hull protection on beaching. trailering or impact.
Towards the stern, there is less impact at high speeds, but if you beach the hull or trailer it, you have less protection.
But, it will depend on what sort of structures you have built inside the stern section, and whether you plan to trailer it much.

As it look like a high speed boat, I would certainly extend the strakes back to the stern for maximum control and hydrodynamics.

Sorry, I thought the strakes were all the way back and you added 2', but these are now like 5' off the stern. Hmm. Not sure I like them that far away.

It still depends on how you plan to use. If the bottom will see the beach; I'd extend them.

Originally the two outside stakes went to the transom. The inner ones were a lot shorter. the boat better not ever see the beach…
