Robinson helicopters doesn't want to tell me what the section profile on their tail rotors is.

Any ideas how I could acquire the NACA details for it?

    Thanks

They may have designed it themselves so it may not correspond to any other foil-- NACA or otherwise.

That's a good point Doug, thanks.

I suppose on that note, I could just match it by eye and go from there.

I wanted to know for my calculations.

What type of calculations are your doing, and for what purpose? That determines how accurately you need to model the section, and even if the section is needed.

Well, I found the main rotor: NACA 63 - 015

    Anyone for the tail rotor...

    Measure it.

That's my plan if I can't get the number.

Can you measure chord and thickness? If so you should be able to at least get very close. As long as you have basic parameters (in cluding camber) right any calculations made will certainly be very close.

I have the wing in my possession, in fact I have four of them!

    Aren't there foil indexes?

There are many ways to create a foil. You might want to measure chord, thickness and location of max thickness. Then estimate camber, and plot a sample section and compare it to the actual foil. Since the main foil is a 63 series, maybe the tail is too.

There is a very complete index of commonly used air foils at

    and then this one

    http://www.ae.illinois.edu/m-selig/ads/aircraft.html#helicopters

which says that the R-22 tailrotor is a 63-0015 ! wow jackpot!
