Hi, I am a sophomore in Naval Architecture. I was given an assignment to draw a ship’s plan : body plan, waterline and buttock line. I’ve completed all of it but now I need to draw them on paper. Does anyone know how to transfer all of the drawing line coordinates in Excel to AutoCAD so I can scale down the plan graph on to my paper?

You could do a "painless" drawing with Autocad or Solidworks . If you let the computer do it for you then you will not have gained insight or gut feeling in how one line influences another.

I recommend that you do it with pencil and paper with a proportional ruler such as an architects scale. You would need a few tools like some draftsman's triangles and templates. Those tools are cheap enough and will serve you well throughout your career as a NA. Doing it the hard way will take a much longer time but it will be time well spent as you will be able to discover things that the computer will not bother to discuss with you.

There is a computer program out there that will do the drawings and provide you with all sorts of information that Autocad or Solidworks may not. It is called Floatsoft.

I am wondering if importing a table of offsets would be possible in Freeship or Delftship Free...?
