Eric W. Sponberg Retirement

Best wishes for good cruising and enjoying life. I always appreciated your presentations at IBEX and the brief opportunities to chat with you. Thanks for the new website; it is very much appreciated.

All the best wishes for a joyful (and well deserved!) retirement! We'll miss you here, so please visit from time to time!
And should your journeys take you to this part of the world, I would love to shake hands!

Thanks to all for your best wishes. I will be cruising, but expect to chime in from time to time. Perhaps when I am in your part of the world, we can meet for a drink. I'll keep you posted. We expect to leave Florida for the Bahamas and the Caribbean late this year.

Eric

Best wishes Eric and Arliss for fair winds and calm seas ahead on your Caribbean cruise.
If you find yourself in St Annes, Martinique sometime, and there is a nice north-easterly tradewind blowing, please do consider a hop over to Barbados to come and visit us - the island has changed a lot (hopefully generally for the better) since you were here in 1977 on Duprass.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. We do intend to be in the Caribbean for awhile before heading around the world.

Congratulations Eric . . :)

But how about the ghost tours in the fort, did you retire from that too, or is that to become a full time employment, maybe after the world tour . .

. . . . . . I truly am trying to retire -- time to become a full-time sailor again . . . . . .
How about Arliss, will she become an on board writer now, or did she retire too . .

Anyway, fair winds to both of you . .

P.S.

An episode of the ghost fort career of Eric -- Ghost Adventures - Castillo de San Marcos -- See Eric from 6:18 and later on . . .

Hi Angelique,
Yes, we are basically retired from Ghost Tours also, in that we are not on the regular public schedule anymore. For the next few months we are filling in on student tours as necessary. When we are ready to leave for good, we will stop ghost tours for good.

Eric

If you happen to make it to Jamaica let me know. I have lots of contacts on the island, and my mother owns a hotel for an easy stop over.

Congratulations on your retirement.

Thanks, Greg, I'll keep that in mind. I appreciate everyone's offers of friendly visits and accommodations. I'll try to keep people posted as to my whereabouts.

Eric

PS, since I am thinking about it, I am posting a picture of our boat as she sits at the mooring here in St. Augustine.

I Love Eric

Since I was joining this forum back to 2009, Mr Eric is just simply Kindest Forum member, as my English is not my mother tongue, I am not very poetic to describe things "he is just kindest One, Smart one, very deep in analysis, He will just let people know His valuable post research" if you read his article, His view of some subject, He will deeply start from history and then touching the subject, very nice writing not so boring like regular scientific writings.

two or three times if I can recall, When I was stuck in some matters or needing advice, He will kindly help, I cant believe in first time when my personal message replied by Him, the expert, the contributors of many boating magazine.

Now, I am 30. My current project is 12m core infused RIB for army, IMHO AFAIK this RIB is surpassing all current Military RIB in Indonesia in my view in all aspect, i dont need to explain every point. I got knowledge from this great forum and person like Mr. Eric.

Hi Adam,

Thank you very much for your tribute. I am glad I have been able to help, and I wish you continuing good fortune in your career.

I have lost 10-15 lbs. working on this boat! This happened the last time we lived aboard--it's a good way to lose weight and keep fit and trim.
