Plexiglass or Lexan

    mydauphin Senior Member

    Looking to replace some windows on the Pilot house.

    Plexiglas, Polycarbonate, Lexan... Some are rather large, 4'x8' piece, some require molding. Any suggestions?

    Lexan is a trade name for polycarbonate. It is softer and scratches easier than Plexiglass(acrylic resin). It is also less prone to cracking.

    We have used Lexan on our fast ferries designs....worked a treat.

    Polycarbonate (Lexan) is the usual choice. It can be cold formed and is tough stuff.
