what is the color difference between using a special clear coat epoxy (207) versus 205/ 206?

if you can deal with the blushing (if any) is there an advantage to using the special clear coat?

Thanks,
Rob

The blushing isn't the problem.

The normal product will turn yellow and degrade fairly quickly when exposed to UV.

If the clear is designed for UV exposure it will maintain its looks longer. Longer is a relative term though, compared to regular epoxy it's better, compared to other clear coats it's still poor.

The color difference may be desirable or not, some have a warm yellow/amber tint that may enhance the natural color of the wood, but that's up to you.

The 207 will be a clearer finish and it flows out better and it has some UV filters and there's no blush. There are other cool things about it compared to other low-blush epoxies too.

Thanks-
I was considering putting a very thin protective coat of "regular" epoxy on the okume plywood when it arrives. I'll just use the clear coat from the start.

Remember, the UV protection on the special clear is like sun lotion. It only extends the time to burn. It doesn't eliminate the damage

What will the final finish be?

We cover the epoxy with Varnish- usually McClosky man-o war- ( but only in the quart size) Any other favorite gloss varnishes?

Got 16+ years out of the last rebuild, with semi annual sanding and new varnish. Kept covered as best as possible- dry sailed

16 years on varnish.
Did the boat ever see the light of day? Or was it used only on moonless nights?

Whatever you did last time,. Repeat it!

Racing once or twice a week when the water is warm, Traveled to regattas (love Roton Points fall regatta) did my best to keep it covered.

Taking off decks now- found numerous areas of saturated plywood. Jealous of anyone who has indoor storage.
