    Dear All,
I found the ABS High speed naval ship rule has mentioned about fillet length.
"The unwelded length is to be not more than 32tpl"

if the thin plate thickness is 4mm, that means the unwelded only 128mm.
my idea is the rule is very strict. does anyone can share with me your opinion or any document to talk about this.

Regardless of what the rule says, you can always make a direct calculation of the required weld (just calculate the area that can withstand the shear stresses in that area) and expose your calculation to ABS approval. I recommend, however, that you adopt the ABS criteria. You will save time and money.
