    Major Duties

    The incumbent prepares new or modified naval architecture design plans, ship specifications, launching and dry-docking plans, ventilation and air-conditioning plans on vessels. Prepares or reviews contract plans and specifications. Produces drawings, plans, or specifications for technical aspects of naval architecture projects. Applies technical methods and performs calculations required for design projects. Studies new development in professional designs, prepares preliminary plans for implementation and applicability. Prepares planning documents including annual or out-year work plans, acquisition papers, technical project plans, or training plans. Conducts field analysis and professional research to assist in establishing formal project6 proposals. Prepares technical portions of project proposals, identifying technical issues, scope, and resource requirements. Provides advice and guidance when technical interpretation, opinion, or decisions are solicited, in a naval architecture specialty area. Maintains frequent contacts with coworkers in the organization to render advice, consultation, and assistance. Conducts comprehensive technical reviews of professional studies, research, and analysis. Prepares statement of work or other binding specification or acquisition performance standards. Performs development engineering analysis; conducting component level valuations, analyzes design specifications and drawings and recommends changes to enable acquisition of desired produce.
