Anyone out there know of a supplier for a 12v electronic fuel shutoff valve that meets cfr33 183.528? To comply the valve would have to have a manual means of opening the valve in the event of electrical or valve failure. The valve would fail shut, or shut without electrical power, and open with electrical power. This would be for a gasoline system, not a diesel system. I can find them on the web for a diesel system ( not sure what the difference would be ). SeaRay uses one made by Skinner valve but I don't think that it has a manual means of operating, and if it doesn't I wonder how they comply? I am checking this out with them. I want to use an electric valve instead of a manual valve at the fuel tank to avoid having to create a means of operating the manual valve remotely outside of the engine compartment ( can't reach in to turn valve in a fire), another USCG reg. Any help appreciated. Jim

Sorry wasn't a Fuel System Forum, seemed the closest thing.

Such valves are used in Europe on all cars with an LPG (propane) tank.
Alloy body, external 12V coil and a lever to operate it manually. The manufacturers are mainly in Italy and Holland, the two countries that have millions of LPG propelled vehicles.

cd, do electric solenoid valves comply with recreational craft directive?
I mean in fire situatiopn in engine room, the first thing that burns is a flimsy wire? whereas a mechanical link would not

Selector Valve allows gas tank switching while engine is on.

February 6, 2008 - Designed for electric remote tank selection in boats with multiple gasoline fuel tanks, 3-port Marine Selector Valve is rated for fuel safety shut-off and features integral solenoids and manual override. Two-way, NC valve offers flow capacity of 180 gph. It includes molded coil enclosure with yoke, 18 in. lead connections, 12 or 24 Vdc voltage, and can operate with a maximum ambient temperature of 176ºF and maximum media temperature of 160ºF.

This may be the one Searay uses. Skinner is owned by Parker.

    Fuel shut off valves

We do supply 12 VDC fuel shut off valves designed for gasoline use. They do have the appropriate fail safe in case of power failure in normally open or normally closed positions.

    What is the application?

Need to know a few things first, size, temp, full off or partial flow rates and flow rate. We only supply valves in large qty at the moment. Our valves have one inlet and one outlet also known as two way valves.

    Can they be stacked?

Are the UL rated or type certified?

Finalizing certification now, UL,CSA currently and USCGA ignition soon. What do you mean by stacked? We also manufacture custom valves if your volume is significant.
