I have some plans and I would like to make a model of the hull and deck to understand the aesthetic implications of raising the cabin slightly. The naval architect said doing this would be fine, and also suggested raising the sheer as an alternative. I've used freeship in the past, but as far as I can remember there is no way to model the deck and cabin.

The plans are for a plywood sharpie with no compound curves. There are offsets for the bulkheads, but not stations.

Hi. The most popular software to do this type jobs is Rhino.
You can use it for free for 3months.
It is easy to learn and intuitive.
If you want I can model it for you.
    Cheers

If you want to model it I won't complain! In 15 minutes you could probably do what would take me half a day.

I will PM offsets later today, I need to organize the information a bit.

    Thanks!

I tried to PM but it says "You may not start a conversation with the following recipients: krawiec." I assume you need to change some settings?

Thanks! By the time I got in touch with him I was already pretty far along modeling my boat in Rhino.

Also thanks again Krawiec for suggesting Rhino!

For anyone else who is interested in modeling a hull and deck from a linesplan in Rhino I recommend the videos below. There is no audio so you must turn on subtitles or else you will not see the instructions!

In this video the drawing is imported into Rhino

And the hull is modeled in this one
