I like that... "Sailboats"... one entry only. 23 entries differentiating the types of motorboats... but only one for "Sailboats"... Snort! And not even one for human powered...

Sure... just don't see how a sailing catamaran can be categorized with those things that float at 45 degrees...

The far away look them mono sailors have is dreaming of a cat and mono's being so slow they have lots of time to dream ;)

Don't get upset, I'm just making a post since I haven't posted in a while. ALL boats are great, just couldn't figger out anything else to say from all the gazillion things one can say. Next time I'll take the mono's side
    No seriously.

Hi all,I am a first time owner of a 17'(don't know what kind) fibre glass single hull boat.
I have absolutely no idea about boats, but hope to learn as much as i need as i have always wanted to learn boating.
I got a 40hp mercury outboard with the boat and would like to find out the year and if it is 2 or 4 stroke,Also, the tilt mechanism is rotten and wonder if i can get a new one as the engine looks quite old.
I am looking forward to chatting with the members here and picking as much as i can from your brains.
    Thanks all,laters!

Found this enlightening website Sailboat-Cruising.com, was just reading their GZ curves page in connection with this post of Guillermo.

Below a quote of the above second link, but much more than in the quote can be found through above links . . .

Online Calculator Heel, GZ Curve and Metacentrique

    On this webpage
    http://www.bootsphysik/rechner/bootxp_e.php
it is possible to calculate some hydrostatic values for different prisms, partly boat shaped. The GZ curve can be displayed. You may shift weights on board, load or unload gear, strech or shrink the frame and look to the results.

The buttons i are leading to information.

Kind of tutorial in German: here
