Dory for rowed ocean crossing

    Quit this rowing caper, the first man to water-ski across the Atlantic will get my attention !

    Realistically, if you build the boat yourself, it can be done for about $3000. If you leave from the Canaries, build the boat there. The weather is mild which helps a lot. Unless you are looking for a fancy finish, a dory type can be done in a week. The dories for the Grand Banks fisheries were made in three days by two men with no power tools. $1000 will get you enough food and water for the trip with a lot to spare. Keep it simple and cheap.
