Mechanical Engineer - 290' Luxury Yacht in CT

    Aerotek is currently looking for 2 Mechanical Engineers to help build a 290 foot luxury yacht in CT.

    The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of design, development, installation, manufacture, construct, operate, and maintain machines, manufacturing equipment, mechanical installations and mechanical facilities. Solve practical engineering problems and improve efficiency in the construction and repair of yachts and commercial craft.

    Responsibilities of Position:
    These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
    -Oversee the installation of mechanical equipment, components, or systems for vessel construction
    -Plan and implement methodology and procedures to apply principles of mechanical theory to the construction of vessel.
    -Write, prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of mechanical systems to ensure installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements, including review of propulsion system, one-line diagrams and pipe sizing.
    -Read and interpret rules and regulations of marine installations
    -Use computer Assisted Design (CAD) to assist in the design and drawing of complicated mechanical systems
    -Establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
    -View completed installations for conformance to design and equipment specifications and operational and safety standards.
    -Evaluate and analyze installation details and recommend changes to improve efficiencies for follow-up on vessels.
    -Estimate labor, material, and construction costs and prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
    -Check pipe sizing for pressure drops.
    -Meet classification and Coast Guard requirements.
    -Oversee mechanical and piping installation on vessels.
    -Inspect mechanical equipment upon receipt at shipyard.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    -There shall be no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, it is assumed that a certain amount of mentoring will be performed while supervising less experienced individuals completing specific tasks.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    -Individual should have strengths in the following areas:
    -Theoretical and practical knowledge to complete the above responsibilities
    -Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    -Ability to communicate well and interface with a wide range of persons
    -A general knowledge of regulatory requirements in the marine industry

    Minimum Qualifications:
    -Demonstrated knowledge of all engineering aspects of the building, repair, and refitting of yachts and commercial vessels.
    -Must posses a B.S. degree, or equivalent, in Engineering; preference given to degrees in mechanical engineering, marine engineering, or manufacturing.
    -A minimum of 3 years of experience engaged in the design, construction and repair of marine vessels.
    -Must be proficient in a Windows environment and have a working knowledge of standard software applications

    Desirable Skills:
    -Must be a self-starter with the ability to think independently and use good judgment in resolving issues with minimal supervision
    -Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
    -Must possess a positive attitude and is a team player
    -Must have a willingness to learn new skills and grow with the company
